Renfrew (also known as Renfrew Heights) is a Vancouver neighbourhood that runs alongside Collingwood, offering a large all-inclusive Vancouver community on the east side of the city. It borders alongside Burnaby and runs from East 29th Avenue to East Hastings, and from Nanaimo Street to Boundary Road.

As one of the earliest areas of Vancouver to be developed, the diversity found here is recognizable in both the real estate options as well as the retail choices, making this convenient and bustling neighbourhood a favourite real estate investment opportunity for many.

The Livability of Renfrew

The History of Renfrew

Colonel Richard Moody was the first to begin turning this area into an actual “area” back in 1861, building a military route through the First Nations trail leading from English Bay to New Westminster, claiming over a kilometer of land as his own.

However, the first real settler in the location was George Wales, who arrived in 1878, and by 1891 the Great Canadian Pacific Railway began to construct the community we see today, creating easy access for those looking build homes and businesses here.
