‘Fraser’, is a big up-and-comer as it pertains to real estate investments in Vancouver

The neighbourhood known as ‘Fraser’, is a big up-and-comer as it pertains to real estate investments in Vancouver. This east Vancouver community runs along Fraser Street from Kingsway to 49th Street to the south, with Prince Edward Street to the west, extending all the way to Elgin Street.

Once known as more of a “Vancouver original” location on the outskirts of town, Fraser continues to emerge as a real estate hot spot for many looking to invest in a single-family dwelling here.

The Livability of Fraser

With the recent uprising within the Fraser community, real estate investment opportunities vary from refurbished duplexes that offer mortgage helping basement suites, to low-rises, townhouses and other such single-family homes.

With such a diverse mix of dwellings and ethnicities in the area, it is a welcoming location to call home. And because it is a growing one too, its ongoing development offers more affordable real estate options for first-time buyers, retirees, families new to the area, and everything in-between.

The History of Fraser

As mentioned, the Vancouver neighbourhood known as ‘Fraser’ is comprised mainly of single-family dwellings, which began to spring up in 1946 when housing lots were a generous size, making way for families moving into the area largely courtesy of the Canadian Pacific Railway, which brought to town employment and an easy way to access the city itself.

As with the start of nearly all known neighbourhoods in and around Vancouver, the Canadian Pacific Railway played a big role in communities springing up, which is exactly the case with Fraser too.

The Future of Fraser

Because Fraser is a growing neighbourhood offering many newer developments, it’s future looks bright. As well, thanks to the South Hill Business Improvement Association, Fraser is lined up to receive a 9 block development of stores and restaurants to serve this community. And with community centres such as Kensington Community Centre already in place, and a variety of schools such as Sir Alexander Mackenzie Elementary School, L’Ecole Bilingue and St. Andrews School, Fraser is already ideal for families, while offering an easy commute into Vancouver for business professionals as well.

If you are looking for real estate opportunities in Vancouver, the Fraser neighbourhood is one well worth looking into, and an area I’d be excited to show you around!
